Not THAT kind of little Girgismelson! This kind:

Yes, we have decided to get a dog! We have been wanting one for a while, and after lots of research it seems that Welsh Corgis are perfect non-yappy, non-foofoo, not-so-small-that-they-fit-in-your-purse apartment dogs. Plus, they are short, like us! We're both verrrry excited, and will hopefully be getting one in the next 2 months, ish. Another positive about Corgis: they are the official dog of the British Royal Family...clearly that is a positive because Scott is OBSESSED with all things British! His name of choice for this poor puppy: Sir William McGregor...
Yeah.
I approved on the condition that the dog will actually be called Mac. Any suggestions for what to call our new adorable family member?

Finally, a blog post I have some knowledge about! I will break my silence and provide the Girgismelson clan with some advice on puppy names.
First, bad names, under no circumstances may you call your puppy by the following names. Punishment has yet to be decided, but may result in limited contact with imaginary love child.
Corky, Corey, Wells Fargo, Spike, Puppy (or variations Puppy 1, Puppy 2), Scotty, Diana Princess of Wales, Posh,or Sir William Macgregor
Some names that I think would be more appropriate for your dog and keep with the British theme could be:
Girls: Queen Elizabeth II (for short: Izzy or Lizzy), Victoria Beckham, Dame Jane Goodall, Abbey or Kierra
Boys: Crowned Prince Charles (for short: charlie), Harry, Phillip, Mick, Henry VIII (although the dog might be destined for an ego trip),
Either sex: Becks (for David Beckham or in U.K. women named Rebecca are called Becks for short), Bailey or London
Wow that was quite a few names! I suppose it is time for me to return to work. Hope these help!
I'm so excited for you both! I wish I could have a puppy, but I'm not around enough to take care of one. My friend Liz from Dallas, the one I met in China - you met her -she has a Corgi! And she was a very cute, very adorable, cuddly dog! Can't wait to see pictures!
I do like Jessica's suggestions, but here are a few of my own:
- Sir Rupert Von Chowderhouse - i think its very dignified
ORRRRR a combination of your names a la Brangelina...
- Scashley Melgis
- Ashcott Girson
I think those would be FABulous. I know they are not very British, so just add a 'Sir' or 'Lady' in front of either one.
If we are sticking with all things British, why not
- Kensington
- Buckingham
- Picadilly
- Westmister
If you don't want to do places, how about
- William the Conqueror
- Madame Tussaud
- James Bond
If I think of more...I'll post again.
Sir William McGregor: MAC. hahaha oh the girgii melsons. What a wonderful clan.
He is PRECIOUS! btw.
hahahah jessica and sammy are brilliant. must be trinity bred--wild guess.
I think Sir Rupert Von Chowderhouse is absolutely inspired. Other British names to consider:
Westminster Abbey
Bloody 'ell
The Pound
The Queen
The Virgin Queen
LongLivetheQueen
Worcester
and my personal favorite:
CRUMPETT
You guys rock! My personal favs are Izzy (Queen Elizabeth II), Becks, Picadilly, and Crumpet. Adorable - I'll keep you guys posted on our British/Oklahoman puppy :)
Harry was only briefly mentioned, but knowing of the love you and Scott both have of British authors, you could always go with a literary approach...
Examples:
*Clive Staples Lewis (you could call him C.S. or Lewis for short)
Prince Caspian, Aslan, Mr. Tumnus, (for a Narnia feel)
*J.R.R Tolkien or Gandalf, Frodo Baggins, Samwise, -Orlando--(for the movie buff)
*Kinsella (or by her real name--Madeline wickam)
*Sir or Lady Rowling--or Albus Dumbledore, Patronus, or Padfoot
That's all I've got :)
