Song Obsession of the Week

So I've heard some of the Ting Tings' other songs in random places and on SYTCYD, but I heard this for the first time last week while driving to work...and I was definitely that crazy person you saw pointing at passing cars and yelling "THAT'S NOT MY NAME!!!!!!" on the highway at 7:45a.m.

I mean, what?

You really can't help at least bopping to this...or full on head banging dancing in the bar when it comes on the juke box. Just sayin.

I Like...Nutty Professors.

Ahh, summer school. Bleh. Let me tell you about it.

I am currently in my second week of a 4-week class called Gangs, Drugs, and Violence that meets three times a week for 3.5 hours. At night. 5:30-9, to be exact. In Norman. That means I work 8-4, drive to Norman, sit there til 9, and drive home. Then I get to see my husband for half an hour before he has to go to sleep so he can be back at the hospital at 4:30a.m. Are we crazy? I think yes.

Despite the awful hours (and the fact that it takes me away from beloved house church for four weeks), the class is semi-interesting, and the professor is a KOOK. For example, he refers to himself in the third person and yells at himself whenever he asks questions. Like he'll say "HEY ____ (referring to himself by his last name), WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS? Well, let me tell you." He also asks us to email our daily reviews of articles and book chapters to every student in the class, and as I type this he is writing each one of us a reply while REPLYING ALL. I didn't need space in my inbox anyway, ha.

The reading is interesting but hard to do given the fact that he changes our assignments about 5 times per class period. We have also watched several FAB documentaries, such as the history of gangs (interesting) and one about orphans who got put on trains and sent around the country in the 1920s (random).

The professor brings us pizza sometimes and compliments our outfits. And then there's this.

I emailed him to thank him for bringing this pizza, and here is his response:

"YOU ARE WELCOME
HOW ARE READING VIDEOS AND the EXCHANGE FOR YOU
I hoping now o move then follow
(there were about 20 more spaces here but I took them out)
I fee i need to put to start the day with qone hour talk nd then go to pseantations."

Ahh, well said.

First goosebumps of the season

This Mia Michaels "Addiction" routine literally gave me goosebumps...this is probably my favorite of the season so far. (It doesn't hurt that I'm obsessed with that song anyway).

Also loved Brandon and Janette's Wade Robson routine - amazing!

Predictions: this week is a toss-up. The only couple who I think is safe for sure is B/J. I think Randi and Evan will be in the bottom 3 for sure. Caitlin and Jason will probably be there since their routines were just okay. Kayla and Kupono's Broadway was meh, but their first dance was amazing enough that I think they'll be safe (although Kupono is in trouble if he's in the bottom). So that would probably mean Jeanine and Phillip over Melissa and Ade.
Who's going home: Caitlin and Jason or Phillip.

p.s. i am way too obsessed with this show.

Vacation pictures!

Like I've said before, I'm not so much with the pictures...oops. Didn't get any of snorkeling, and a lot of them were taken on our last morning, aka during a torrential downpour. But whatever, here they are:

Our first night - we look strange

Beautiful beach!
Melody, one of our new friends from Chicago
Angel, our awesome waiter with mad fire skills
Weird Jerry, who danced for the restaurant without being asked...how nice.
Another beach shot
Our last night
Beach bed on our porch!
The view down one of the riverpoolthingies leading to the main pool
Hammocks outside our room
Our room and hard-earned rafts!!!
Sad to leave...but tan!

I Like...Independence Day

Happy 4th of July everyone! On the docket for today: sleeping in, general laziness, then off to Norman for steaks and fireworks with the Melson clan.

Yay America :)

P.S.

Oh and also, I wish I could move my hips like this:

Love it

Last night's episode was definitely better than last week. Loved the pas de deux, the cha cha, and Kayla and Kupono's routine above. Even the quick step was fun and not painful like it usually is. I think right now my favorite couples are Brandon & Janette and Kayla & Kupono.

Who will be in the bottom 3:
Caitlin and Jason, because the alien-impregnating-human routine was just STRANGE, and Caitlin was covered in pointy tin foil hats, so it was hard to see any of the actual dancing. Weird choregraphy aside, they haven't really impressed me so far.

Randi and Evan, because their Broadway routine was just okay, and Randi looked like she was faking the fun and wanted to be somewhere else.

Vitolio and Karla, because even though their quick step was good, they don't have a big following, and that genre is not one that will make people jump up and down screaming on their couch spilling their root beer floats. Not that I've ever done that while watching a dance. Never.

Predictions: this is tough. I'm thinking Jason and Karla, because even though Caitlin hasn't been awesome, the judges seem to love her, and her solos have been better.
